How resisting change keeps you in the toilet

It’s about to get all medical and WebMD up in here today, but in a way that will totally help you.  Pinky swear.

I’m talking about GERD.

It’s a fancy acronym with an even fancier name that keeps me severely nauseas and chained to my bed for weeks at a time.  It’s an acronym that turns my entire household on its head, adding stress, frustration, and overwhelm to everyone involved and turns everything from awesome to ugh! (e.g. cereal for dinner, and the kids are out of clean underwear).

GERD- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.  Also known as ‘stomach ugliness’ and ‘At least I’m not pregnant.’

I discovered I had this last November, and after finishing my medication I was careful about not eating the foods that make my body all angry and vomit-y.  I stayed away from:

- all fried foods

-chocolate

-caffeine

-spicy food

-citrus

-ice cream and milkshakes

-tomato based foods

Basically anything anyone with half a taste bud wants to eat.  And as someone who frequents a rendezvous with sea salt and black pepper potato chips, loves spaghetti and meatballs, and adores a fudge brownie with walnuts, a la mode, avoiding these foods kind of hurt me to my little hungry soul.

So, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to be stubborn and eat what I wanted.

The result?  I go from this:

To this:

When you resist making changes that benefit your bodies and businesses, the result isn’t nearly as cute (read: healthy, rockin’, profitable) as it could be.

When you resist making changes that benefit you, you get turned on your head and operate under stress and overwhelm, producing mediocre results.

What changes have you been putting off in your life and your business out of mere stubbornness?

Is it spending less time on social media (are 3 hours a day on Twitter really bringing in the dollars?)  Getting some help in the form of an intern or virtual assistant?  Shutting your laptop and spending much needed quality time with your mate?

Aside from my eating habits, one of the changes I’ve been resisting is creating a little something extra for my subscribers.  Why?  Because of questions like ‘what if they don’t like what I come up with,’ and ‘what if it’s not good enough?’

I’ve silenced those questions and created Heart Happiness—you can check the details here.

What’s one small change you can make to better yourself and your business today?
